ecology
The Tumut River was examined for the ecological impact of the construction of the Snowy Mountains System. It has been found that there is a sharp increase in bank erosion, with about two hectares of land lost per kilometer of river. The water supply along the river and the former water quality have been damaged. Due to the low water temperatures in the Blowing Dam , the natural fish population has been eliminated and native flora and fauna have been lost due to the sharp change in the water level.
