history

At the end of the 8th century, the Maier who administered the monastery property and had special privileges sat in Tuningen. The Maier rose from administrators to the nobility . As befitting the nobility, they built a castle in Tuningen right next to the Maierhof. This Maierburg was built near today's church square on a hill that rose 10 meters above the Sieblegraben. Today nothing can be seen of it, however, remains of the wall are said to have been found at the beginning of the 19th century. The field name "Behind the Castle" gives an indication of the existence of the castle.

coat of arms
