With a tunnel waistband , the upper edge of an item of clothing ( pants or skirt ) is folded inwards and sewn on. This creates a tunnel into which a rubber is drawn. This variant is mainly used for children's clothing, nightwear and sportswear. The advantage here is that the waistband can be easily adapted to the waist size of the wearer and (especially with children) grows with the wearer for a while. Furthermore, a worn out rubber can easily be replaced.
