The Berlin tunnel control center (TLZB) is located on the open space between the entrance and exit No. 8 Eichborndamm ( BAB A 111 ) of the Tegel Airport tunnel in Berlin. Commissioning took place in 1979. Comprehensive modernization took place in 2004-2005. This had become absolutely necessary because the safety equipment of the adjacent Tegel Airport tunnel in particular no longer complied with the guidelines for the equipment and operation of road tunnels (RABT).

The sensor data is also transmitted to the traffic control center (VKRZ) in Tempelhof.

tasks

The tasks of the tunnel control center include the monitoring of all technical equipment in road tunnels via remote diagnostics and video. The video surveillance includes 218 cameras.

The tasks also include alerting and supporting rescue and emergency services.

Monitored tunnels

The total distance of the monitored road tunnels is 9.1 km and includes the following facilities:

modernization

The outdated technical facilities for tunnel monitoring were migrated to IP-based systems. Emergency telephones connected via Voice-over-IP are used in road tunnels for the first time.
