Tunzhofen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tunzhofen is a submerged settlement in what is now the urban area of Stuttgart-Nord . The place was mentioned several times in documents between 1280 and 1372.

The settlement was on the northern slope of the Nesenbach valley . Important landlords here were the Lords of Rechberg and Lorch Monastery . Viticulture played an important role: z. B. is known that the Lorch monastery had a wine press here.

Probably as a result of the city war of 1387, Tunzhofen was given up as a place to live. Its inhabitants moved into the better protective wall ring of the city of Stuttgart.

Today the Tunzhofer Platz near the Bürgerhospital above Heilbronner Straße is a reminder of the village's location.
