Turin-Milan Book of Hours

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Turin-Milan Hours is written on parchment manuscript from the 14th to the 15th century.

An illuminated manuscript begun after 1395 for the Duke of Berry is known under the name " Très Belles Heures de Notre-Dame ". An unfinished part of it was later separated, provided with miniatures in the course of the first half of the 15th century, divided again and is now referred to as the " Turin-Milan Book of Hours " or the " Turin-Milan Prayer Book " after the former locations .

Since the Turin-Milan prayer book can be described as part of the Très Belles Heures de Notre-Dame , but not the other way around, and also to be able to clearly juxtapose the history of its creation, the artists involved, the complicated ownership sequence and the current storage locations, the parts of the Manuscript explained coherently in the article “ Très Belles Heures de Notre-Dame ”.
