The tower hill Schöna is a listed, artificially constructed hill in Schöna , a district of Dahme / Mark in Brandenburg . Even before the town was first mentioned in a document in the 14th century, a tower castle (Motte) was built on the hill .
In the village and the surrounding area, the tower hill is known under the names Borchelt , Burgelt or Bürgelt .
description
The tower hill has a diameter of 25 meters and is about two meters high. Originally the hill was surrounded by two moats. Today only the inner one is preserved and visible. During an excavation in 2013, the basement of a building with a side length of about six meters was found and recorded in the core of the hill. From the determination of the tree ring data from the beam construction of the building, it was erected in the first half of the 13th century. The building was probably destroyed and abandoned in the second half of the same century.
