Turn-by-turn navigation
Turn-by-turn navigation is the ability of navigation systems to indicate in good time the change of direction or lane required to reach the destination (e.g. in the form of a turn) when using roads, rivers or other specified routes.
The first devices with turn-by-turn navigation (from around 1999) only showed simple graphic symbols (arrows, etc.) and the distance (e.g. in meters) for the next change in direction to indicate the next change in direction to point out. Devices offered from 2004 onwards have the option of showing the route to be used (roads, rivers, hiking trails) on the basis of specific maps or maps.
