TwoDots (dt. Two points ) is one of Playdots, Inc. developed and posted single player puzzle game. It is the sequel to the game Dots . The game has been available as an application for iOS devices since May 29, 2014 and for Android users since November 12 of the same year . A version for Windows Mobile followed on December 28, 2015 .

Gameplay

The aim of the game is to achieve defined goals for each level by connecting points. The number of available levels is constantly growing; In December 2019, Level 2500 was unlocked with the new update of the game.

At the beginning of a level you get an overview of the objectives to be fulfilled and the number of available moves. You also have the option of using a bonus box (if available) for the respective level that a PowerUp delivers. To make a move, the player must connect at least two dots of the same color. This can only be done horizontally and vertically, but not diagonally. The connection of points also causes these points to disappear. If this happens, new, randomly generated points are brought into the level from the upper edge of the field if possible. If the player connects four or more points to form a square or polygon, all points that have the same color as the formed square or polygon disappear. All points that are within a formed polygon become "bombs", which then explode in all eight directions (including diagonally) and thus also make those points or obstacles disappear.

As soon as you have been able to meet the specific goals for the respective level, you get access to the next level. The game works with a point and star system. After playing a level, you get a point rating, which then corresponds to one, two or three stars. The player starts with five lives, one of which he loses if he fails. A life needs twenty minutes to regenerate, which is one hour and forty minutes of regeneration time for a total of five lives.

The game world of TwoDots is divided into several "worlds", which differ from one another in game elements, obstacles and, as a result, also in level-specific goals. However, these worlds are not named separately within the game, but rather only recognizable through different background scenarios in the level selection.

In contrast to its predecessor Dots , TwoDots contains power-ups, specific goals and different levels. There are also special promotions in the game, such as search actions on hidden objects, special bonus formats or so-called treasure hunts, in which the player can earn bonus material and power-ups.

TwoDots received very positive reviews from Metascore. While on the one hand it was praised for the minimalist design, the different obstacles and the level layout, on the other hand the long waiting time to fill life was criticized. It was also mentioned that some levels have a very high degree of difficulty, which in turn leads to the loss of many lives and thus to longer waiting times.
