  • Johann Gottfried Tympe (1699–1768), German oriental philologist and Protestant theologian
  • Matthäus Tympius (1566–1616; also: Tympe, Timpe; pseudonym: Paulus Pytthmaetus), educator, Catholic theologian and author and translator of spiritual literature
