The Type 87 ( Japanese 87 式 自 走高 射 機関 砲 , 87-shiki jisō kōsha kikanhō , German "Type 87 self-propelled anti-aircraft machine gun") is a fully autonomous, all-weather anti-aircraft tank (FlakPz) made in Japan .
The vehicle is armed with two 35 mm L / 90 automatic cannons from Oerlikon Contraves GmbH . These are the same weapons that are used by the German cheetah .
The Type 87 FLAK tank is based on the modified chassis of the Type 74 main battle tank . In 1997 the Japanese Self-Defense Forces had around 40 vehicles.
