The Type 93 Closed Arrow ( Japanese 93 式 近距離 地 対 空 誘導 弾 , 93-shiki kinkyori chitaikū yūdōdan , German "Type 93 short-range surface-to-air missile ") air defense system is the Japanese counterpart of the self-defense forces to the American M1097 Avenger . Infrared guided fire-and-forget missiles of the Type 91 Hand Arrow can be fired from an eight -fold launcher . A Toyota Mega Cruiser is used as the carrier platform , which is known by the military as a Kōkidōsha ( 機動車 機動車 , German "elevated mobile vehicle").
