The Toyota Mega Cruiser is a big SUV with a remarkable resemblance to the H1 of lobster . It was manufactured from 1995, but has not been available as a civilian version since 2002. It is mainly used in the military version for the transport of soldiers as well as with a mounted howitzer or anti-aircraft missile for the Japanese self-defense forces .

The Mega Cruiser was not actually intended for civilian use and was only sold in Japan mainly to police , fire brigade and military transport services. The vehicle was to be used to test designs that were intended for mass-produced Toyota SUVs (such as the Land Cruiser ). But the model did not sell well.

The Mega Cruiser has a 4.1 liter R4 turbo diesel engine. The machine was designed for high torque at low speeds. The off-road vehicle has permanent all-wheel drive . The two-stage transfer case can be locked, as can both axle differentials. To improve off-road mobility, the Mega Cruiser also has all-wheel steering and a tire pressure control system that allows you to choose between 2.2 bar for the road and 1.0 bar for sand, mud or snow trips.
