The Toyota Isis is a 7-seater van manufactured by Kanto Auto Works for the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota . It is only sold in Japan and was introduced there in September 2004. It has sliding doors and either front or all wheel drive . The four-cylinder engines are available with 1.8 or 2.0 l displacement. Its competitors are the Honda Stream and the Nissan Lafesta .
The Isis has special sliding doors, with the front and rear doors locking to each other instead of the locks on the B-pillar. Toyota calls this system "Panoramic Door". The Isis only has this system on the passenger side. On the driver's side, the doors snap into conventional locks. The front passenger seat can be completely folded up and pushed forward to facilitate entry for the rear seat passengers. The doors are also locked in the roof and floor so that they can be opened and closed individually. This door system was first used by Toyota in the Raum model . The Tundra Extra Cab in the USA also has this facility. It was used for the first time in the world on the Nissan Prairie in 1981.
The G-Book telematics system was offered as an optional extra in the 2007 model .
The chariot is called Isis after the Egyptian deity Isis , whose worship was widespread across the entire Greco-Roman world. She was revered as the ideal mother and wife, mother of nature and magic, friend of slaves, sinners, artists and miserable people, listening also to the prayers of the mighty, beautiful, aristocrats and rulers. Isis is also the goddess of motherhood and fertility .
