successor Toyota Verso

The Toyota Avensis Verso is a compact van that was launched in August 2001 as the successor to the Toyota Picnic . Like its predecessor, it was called the Toyota Ipsum in Asia .

The Avensis Verso was based on the mid-range Toyota Avensis . With an external length of 4.65 m, it was slightly larger than its predecessor in order to be able to compete with the Honda Odyssey . It had a choice of five, six or seven seats. The engines used were a 2.0-liter Otto engine with 110 kW (150 PS) and a 2.0-liter D-4D turbodiesel with 85 kW (116 PS). Because the spare wheel was mounted under the floor, a large rear storage space was available.

Facelift

In October 2003 a number of changes were made to improve the interior and exterior design. Among other things, there was from now on the electronic stability control VRC and the traction control TRC. Since the coolant line (non-insulated aluminum pipe) in all versions is routed through the rear right wheel arch (behind the cover), corrosion damage to the air conditioning system occurs more often here. There were also several updates for the engine control unit.

The left-hand drive version was discontinued in mid-2005. The Avensis Verso was only available in Europe with left-hand traffic (such as the UK ).

Due to the insufficient number of copies of the Toyota Corolla Spacio / Verso and the Avensis Verso, Toyota developed the Toyota Verso , which has replaced both models in Europe since spring 2009.
