Model history

The Massy Dyna was built in front handlebar construction. The chassis and body were developed by Toyota, the technology by the subsidiary Hino Jidōsha . The name referred to the smaller Toyota Dyna, which was also built in front-handlebar design, while the mechanics were based on the Toyota DA / FA100. Originally, the Massy Dyna with three front seats was equipped with a DQ100 Hino in-line six-cylinder 4507 cc diesel engine that developed 105 hp (77 kW). The 3878 cc Toyota F-series petrol engine with 130 HP (96 kW) was also available, but was mainly used for fire fighting vehicles, as its high fuel consumption was of no interest to commercial users. After the 4-tonne payload model launched in September 1969, a 3.5-tonne model followed in 1970 and a model with a longer wheelbase. The standard model with 3.5 tons had a wheelbase of 3445 mm, a total length of 6350 mm and an empty weight of 3080 kg.

In March 1975 the Massy Dyna was revised and the name changed to "Toyota Dyna Massy Cargo". Now a 4.5-ton payload model was also available, as was the new Hino EH100 5871 cm³ diesel engine with 145 PS (107 kW). The grille was now white instead of black and the headlight area was slightly changed. In addition, there were now wider fenders and 3-part instead of 2-part windscreen wipers. Since the Massy Dyna could never be sold with large sales figures, production was discontinued in 1977 in favor of the Hino Ranger .
