The Toyota C-HR is a crossover SUV from the Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota .

history

During the Paris Motor Show 2014, the vehicle was first presented as a Toyota C-HR Concept design study . A revised version was presented at the IAA 2015 in Frankfurt am Main , before a near-series version was available at the Geneva Motor Show 2016. The vehicle has been configurable since the end of September 2016 and has been delivered in Germany since January 2017. The C-HR will be revised for the 2020 model year.

The C-HR is built in Adapazarı , Turkey, for the European market .

In China , the SUV is sold by both the FAW- Toyota joint venture and, formerly, Gonow . The vehicle built by FAW is sold as the Toyota Izoa , the vehicle built by Gonow as the Toyota C-HR. Both models have been available in China since July 2018.

At the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2019, Toyota presented both the C-HR and the Izoa with electric drive. They went on sale in China in April 2020.

Model description

The model is based on Toyota's TNGA platform . The designation C-HR stands for C oupé H igh R ider . With the Toyota Verso and the Toyota Corolla , the C-HR has been rolling off the assembly line at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey plant in Turkey since October 2016 . In addition to a 1.2-liter gasoline engine with 85 kW (116 PS), the C-HR was launched with the 90 kW (122 PS) petrol / electric hybrid drive known from the Toyota Prius . At the time of market launch, the vehicle with the 1.2-liter gasoline engine was available from 21,990 euros, the hybrid drive cost from 27,390 euros. A 135 kW (184 PS) two-liter hybrid drive, which is also used in the Corolla E210, will also be available from 2020.

The C-HR is offered in the following equipment variants at prices:

  • Flow : basic equipment
  • Business Edition : in addition to Flow, other assistance systems, seat heating, electric lumbar support
  • Team Germany : including parking sensors and parking aid, privacy glass, blind spot warner
  • Style Selection : in addition to Team Germany, including 18 "light alloy wheels, partial Alcantara leather trim," Touch & Go plus "navigation system
  • Lounge : in addition to Team Germany, including 18 "alloy wheels, LED headlights with cornering lights, automatic air conditioning, JBL sound system
  • Orange Edition : in addition to the Lounge, among other things with black 18 "alloy wheels, orange paintwork with black roof, leather interior

The original plan was to only sell the model in North America through Toyota's Scion brand . With the decision to discontinue this brand, it was decided to sell the C-HR directly through the parent brand Toyota and worldwide. On the American market it is only sold in the 2.0-liter version with 109 kW (148 hp). This engine variant is also available on the Asian markets in addition to the turbo engine (1.2 liters) and the hybrid drive (1.8 liters).
