Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey Inc. is a Turkish automobile manufacturer based in Adapazarı , Sakarya and a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation .

history

The company was founded in 1990 under the name Toyotosa as a joint venture between Toyota , Sabancı Holding and the Japanese Mitsui Bussan . Toyota initially had a 40% share.

Production started in 1994.

The division into a sales and a production company took place in 2000. At the same time, the name was changed to Toyota Sabanci Motor Manufacturing Turkey Inc. , which was changed to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey Inc. a year later . Toyota acquired Sabancı's stake in 2002 and has owned 90% of the company since then.

This restructuring was followed by a significant increase in production. In 2002, the export of vehicles to the European market began.

TMMT had around 3,300 or 3,500 employees in 2014.

Models

The models Corolla (since 1994), Corolla Verso (since 2004 or 2007), Auris (since 2009) and Yaris are produced.

The one millionth vehicle was produced in 2009.

The Toyota C-HR has been in production since 2016 .
