Mitsui Bussan KK ( Japanese 三井 物産 株式会社 , Mitsui Bussan Kabushiki kaisha ; Eng. Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ) is a Japanese conglomerate . As one of the seven traditional large trading companies ( Sōgō Shōsha ), it is the largest company in the Mitsui Group and one of the largest companies in Japan .

In its current form, the company was established in 1947 as Daiichi Bussan , the first forerunner under the name Mitsui Bussan dates back to 1876. Before the Second World War , Mitsui Bussan was part of the Mitsui Zaibatsu , which was destroyed in 1945 by the occupation authorities.

Mitsui AgriScience

Mitsui AgriScience is the agricultural chemical sub-class of Mitsui Bussan, which, however, only holds 30% of the shares directly. It is not to be confused with Mitsui Chemicals Agro , which is part of Mitsui Chemicals .

Mitsui AgriScience operates in Europe through Certis Europe and in the USA as Certis USA. Certis is a global leader in biopesticides such as Bt , neem oil and codling moth granulovirus .

In 2014 Mitsui Bussan acquired DuPont's copper fungicide business .
