Erich Christian Schröder

Erich Christian Schröder (born July 3, 1925 in Elberfeld ; † April 2, 2013 in Leopoldshöhe ) was a German philosophy professor and university rector.

From 1947 Schröder studied philosophy, German literature and physiology at the University of Cologne , where he received his doctorate in 1954. phil. PhD. After working as a teacher at a private school in Wuppertal and as a scientist at the Philosophical Seminar of the University of Cologne, he was appointed lecturer at the former Pedagogical Academy in Bielefeld in 1961. In 1965 he was offered the chair of philosophy at the Pedagogical University of Westphalia-Lippe , Bielefeld department. From 1967 to 1969 and 1978 to 1980 he was rector of the PH Westfalen-Lippe ; After integrating the Bielefeld department of the PH Westfalen-Lippe into the University of Bielefeld , he was professor there from 1980 to 1990 at the Faculty of History and Philosophy, Department of Philosophy, and from 1980 to 1983 Vice Rector for Teaching, Study Affairs and Further Education. Erich Christian Schröder died at the age of 87 in Leopoldshöhe (Lippe district).

The University of Bielefeld made him an honorary senator in 1994 because of his outstanding performance in the merger of the Pedagogical University of Westphalia-Lippe with the University of Bielefeld .
