description

Tianjin Automotive Xiali and Toyota founded Tianjin-Toyota Motor in November 1999, according to two sources . Other sources give June 2000 and July 2000 respectively. Both partners held 50% of the shares. The seat is in Tianjin . In October 2002, the production of automobiles with the brand name Toyota began.

In June 2002, China FAW Group acquired a large stake in Xiali, which resulted in Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile .

In 2003 the name of the joint venture was changed to Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor . Toyota held 40% of the shares, Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile 30%, FAW 20% and Toyota Motor (China) Investment 10%. Two sources specify September 2003.

Since May 2006, the vehicles are sold under the brand name FAW and either the addition of Tianjin Toyota or just Toyota.

In 2008 there were 8,786 employees. The number rose to 12,828 at the end of 2011.

Models

In October 2002 the Vios was the first model as a sedan . It remained in production until December 2007.

The Corolla followed in February 2004 .

The Crown was added in March 2005 .

The Raiz followed in October or November 2005 .

Production numbers

In 2005 130,930 vehicles were produced. In the following year it was 208,359 and in the following year 270,725.
