The Toyota Comfort is a rear-wheel drive sedan built by the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota since 1995 . It is based on the Toyota Crown (S150) model
In 1995 Toyota launched the Comfort, which with its soberly designed body and relatively simple technology (rear rigid axle) is primarily intended to appeal to the taxi and large customer market. In Hong Kong and Singapore , the model dominates the taxi market today. For Singapore they will all be completely replaced by September 2014, as the taxis are too old for their service. Many of the taxis in Singapore currently use Hyundai Sonata , Hyundai i40 , Toyota Prius , Chevrolet Epica , Renault Latitude , Kia Optima, and Hyundai i30 . Many of the cars are also under Uber and Grab .
Competitors of the Comfort are the similarly designed models Nissan Crew and Nissan Cedric .
The Comfort is powered either by a 2.2-liter diesel engine or a two-liter in-line four-cylinder with square bore and stroke dimensions, which is operated with liquid gas and has an output of 58 kW (79 hp). Gasoline engines were also previously available.
The model range includes the equipment variants Standard (basic model) and the better equipped versions Deluxe and SG. A version with a 10 cm longer wheelbase has been integrated into the Toyota Crown model range under the name Crown Comfort . The AutoDoor allows the driver to open the rear door on the passenger side using a linkage. The model is available as a five- and six-seat version (with a full-length bench in the front).
