technology

Engines

When sales began in the summer of 2006, there were two transversely installed six-cylinder in- line engines with a displacement of 2.0 or 2.5 liters. In March 2007, a new turbocharged 2.0-liter common rail diesel engine with 110 kW was added, which had been developed together with VM Motori . All three versions met the Euro 4 standard and achieved CO 2 emissions of just over 200 g / km. In South Korea, a 1.8 lE TEC II engine with 90 kW (122 hp) was also available.

transmission

A five-speed manual transmission was standard for the two two-liter engines; an electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission from GM with manual gear selection was available as an option, while the 2.5-liter engine was only offered with the automatic transmission. Initially, the two-liter gasoline engine was also offered with an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission from the Japanese supplier Aisin , the specialty of which was a gear ratio of 1: 1 in 5th gear, which means that this transmission has no overdrive , as is common in today's automatic transmissions is. A five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission was optionally available for the 1.8-liter engine.

LPG drive

A LPG system was available ex works for the two gasoline engines. The gas tank with a capacity of 60 liters of autogas (LPG) was installed instead of the spare wheel. This not only increased the range of the vehicle, but also resulted in lower fuel costs and lower pollutant emissions.

safety

The vehicle was subjected to the crash tests carried out by ANCAP as a Holden Epica in 2007 and 2008 and was given four out of five stars. In 2007 the total number of points was 26.41 and in 2008 it was 27.41.
