In December 1981, the UBS-1 Jackaroo Four was presented as a three-door off-road vehicle with all-wheel drive and a separate frame. It was built by Isuzu in Japan and sold outside of Japan and New Zealand as an Isuzu Trooper. There were two levels of equipment: Standard and Deluxe, the latter was created by the additional package V9K .
There was a choice of two four-cylinder gasoline engines with a displacement of 2.0 liters or 2.3 liters and a similar diesel engine with a displacement of 2.2 liters. In each case, the engines were combined with a manual four-speed gearbox.
In 1982 there was a small facelift and the Jackaroo continued to be built in this constellation until the beginning of 1984.

In April 1992 the new UBS-2 Jackaroo Six was presented. He had grown significantly larger. There were three-door models with a short wheelbase (2330 mm) and five-door models with a long wheelbase (2760 mm). Four disc brakes and power steering were standard on all models. At the same time, the sister models Opel Monterey and Vauxhall Monterey were offered in Europe .
The 3.2-liter V6 gasoline engine with EFI injection system, which delivered 130 kW, was particularly new. The turbo-diesel engine with pre-chambers was also new, but had four cylinders in line, 3.1 l displacement and developed 84 kW. The engine power was transmitted to all four wheels either via a manual five-speed gearbox or a four-speed automatic.
There were three trim levels: S , XS and LS , the latter only as a five-door.
From 1999 new engines were offered. The 3.2-liter gasoline engine was replaced by a 3.6-liter V6 with an output of 159 kW, the 3.1-liter R4 turbo-diesel was replaced by a 3.0-liter V6 unit that came with Was equipped with direct injection . The superstructures have been slightly revised.
In 2003 the production of these vehicles ended without replacement.
