history
At the Mondial de l'Automobile 2004, a concept vehicle under the name Chevrolet S3X was presented for the first time , the shape of which is similar to the Captiva. The production vehicle was formally shown for the first time at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show . The Captiva shares the same platform ( GM Theta ) and many parts with the Opel Antara , Saturn Vue and the Holden Captiva. The market launch took place in October 2006.
It is available with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder common rail turbo diesel engine developed by the Italian engine developer VM Motori with an output of 93 kW or 110 kW. The small diesel engine with the maximum output of 93 kW is not intended for the German market.
The gasoline engines include the 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 100 kW (136 hp) and the 3.2-liter six-cylinder V engine with a maximum output of 169 kW (230 hp) . An LPG system can be ordered as an option for the gasoline engine variants. In the basic version, the car is equipped with front-wheel drive and from the LT version it is available with all-wheel drive .
It was one of the first European Chevrolet models to be equipped with the electronic stability program ESP . In contrast to the sister model from Opel, the Chevrolet Captiva is also available with 7 instead of 5 seats.
On December 5, 2013, Chevrolet announced that it would largely withdraw from the Western European market by the end of 2015, which in Germany already happened in mid-2014. This should strengthen the Opel brand in the continental European market.
Model maintenance
At the beginning of 2011 the Captiva was revised. These modifications gave the model a larger radiator grille typical of the brand and new, more economical engines. In this form, the vehicle was shown formally for the first time at the Mondial de l'Automobile 2010.
In spring 2013 and its formal premiere at the Geneva Motor Show of the same year, the Captiva received the following as part of a further facelift:
- modified grille (different honeycomb structure)
- new aprons
- LED rear lights
- new 18 "alloy wheels
- slight modifications to the instruments and switches
- revised infotainment system
- optional lighting of the footwell
- optional keyless entry system
- In the simplest equipment variant, the tailgate glass can no longer be opened
At the Dubai International Motor Show 2015, a further revised version of the Captiva was introduced for model year 2016th
In September 2018, production of the Captiva was stopped worldwide. The third generation of the Chevrolet Equinox is considered the global successor model , while a second generation based on the Baojun 530 is offered in other individual countries such as Colombia or Thailand .
