The Chevrolet Rezzo (internal type designation U100) is a compact van produced from 2000 to 2011 by the Korean car manufacturer GM Daewoo .

Model history

In 1997 Daewoo first presented a concept vehicle called Daewoo Tacuma Concept at the Seoul Motor Show . Two years later in 1999, two more concept vehicles, Daewoo Tacuma Sport and Daewoo Tacuma Style , were shown.

The pilot series was produced from July 1999. In January 2000 the series vehicle went on sale in South Korea. The formal trade fair premiere took place the following month at the Geneva Motor Show . In Europe it will only be available from autumn 2000 or spring 2001. In 2000, a fuel cell vehicle was built based on the Daewoo Rezzo.

The name Chevrolet Vivant was used from 2003 on the South African market, where it was previously marketed as Daewoo Tacuma and also used on South American markets.

Originally launched as Daewoo Rezzo or Daewoo Tacuma , it was renamed Chevrolet Rezzo or Chevrolet Tacuma at the end of 2004, when General Motors took over the distribution of European Daewoo vehicles . The model was discontinued in Europe at the end of 2008 and was not replaced by Chevrolet Orlando until the end of 2010 .

production

In South Korea, the vehicle was built in the Daewoo Kunsan plant from 2000 and an annual production volume of 100,000 is expected initially.

In Uzbekistan, the Chevrolet Tacuma was produced at GM Uzbekistan between October 2007 and an unspecified date in 2008 . The Daewoo model, on the other hand, disappeared from the market in autumn 2008, as the Romanian manufacturer Daewoo Automobile SA, who built the Tacuma from 2002, was bought by Ford .

Between January 2008 and 2011, the vehicle was built in Vietnam by the Vietnam Daewoo Motor Co. ( GM Daewoo Vidamco ) under the name Chevrolet Vivant.

technology

The Rezzo was designed by Pininfarina , Italdesign and the Daewoo Motors Design Studio based on the Daewoo Nubira.

In Europe, the vehicle was available with four petrol engines: a 1.6-liter engine, a 1.8-liter engine and a 2.0-liter engine in two output levels (maximum output of the most powerful variant: 89 kW). In Asia it was also available with a 2.0-liter engine with a maximum output of 108 kW.

It has a five-speed manual transmission; from the CDX version, a four-speed automatic transmission and an automatic transmission were used as an option . A conversion to LPG was possible ex works (importer).

It has only been revised once since its market launch towards the end of 2004 and otherwise remained technically the same as when it was introduced.

Equipment variants

The Rezzo was available in three versions:

The basic SE version includes driver and front passenger airbags as well as side airbags, power steering and electronic immobilizer as standard .

The SX variant also includes fog lights and intermittent rear window wipers.

The highest equipment variant CDX is also equipped with a rain sensor and alarm system, an electric glass lifting / sliding roof was also available.

Distribution in Germany

From the end of August 2008 the Rezzo was no longer listed on the official Chevrolet website. However, there were still 36 new registrations in Germany in 2010.

Vehicles using gaseous fuels

LPG

Chevrolet offered the Rezzo ex works (conversion at the importer) with a LPG system. Instead of the spare wheel, the gas tank is installed in the spare wheel well with a capacity of 53 liters of LPG (Liquefied Propane Gas). The range of the vehicle is thus extended by up to around 450 km.

hydrogen

In 2000, Daewoo built a fuel cell vehicle called Daewoo Rezzo DFCV-1 in collaboration with the Korea Research Institute of Energy. It has a 10 kW fuel cell stack.
