The Daewoo Racer , mostly Daewoo 1.5i in Australasia , is a passenger car made by the automobile manufacturer Daewoo Motors . Contrary to the implication of the name is not a sports car, but a license replica of the Opel Kadett E . The original Daewoo Racer was never offered in Germany, but mainly produced for the Eastern European market as well as for the Near and Middle East . The notchback version of the model sold in Germany as the Daewoo Nexia , a visually revised version of the Kadett E, was still partly sold as a racer or super racer in the regions mentioned . In Canada it was sold as Passport Optima .
In Thailand, after a facelift, the model was also available under the name Daewoo Fantasy, for example in South America as Daewoo Pointer . In South Korea, the home country of the Daewoo brand, the model is known as the Daewoo LeMans .
