The second generation Matiz (internal type designation M200 / M250) was on the market in Europe from spring 2005 to March 2010. The technically almost unchanged car can be recognized by the newly designed headlights and the steeper sloping roof line. Only the two most expensive models, the SX and the automatic, have side airbags. In the Euro NCAP crash test in 2005, the Matiz was rated 2.5 stars out of five without side airbags. In mid-2008, the Matiz received a small facelift, recognizable by the brand emblem now attached to the radiator grille and a larger cooling inlet opening, the facelift was formally presented for the first time at the 2007 Barcelona Motor Show .

Instead of the 5-speed manual gearbox , a 4- speed automatic gearbox is also available in conjunction with the smaller engine .

Further construction after 2010

While the Matiz was replaced by the Chevrolet Spark in Europe in 2010, it is still offered as an inexpensive entry-level model in some countries in Latin America (e.g. Ecuador, Colombia) (as of mid-2018). The name of the vehicle was changed to Chevrolet Spark Life and another facelift followed in 2014. In Colombia, a taxi version based on the same body is offered under the name Chevrolet ChevyTaxi. In the 2014 Latin NCAP crash test, the vehicle was rated zero stars for adult safety and two stars for child safety.
