The formal world premiere of the second generation of the Equinox took place at NAIAS 2009. The second generation of models came onto the market in summer 2009. The basic technical platform was retained, but the vehicle's external dimensions were slightly smaller. The engines have been completely redesigned so that the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine in an early press release with a maximum output of 182 hp (136 kW) and the 3.0-l V6 engine with a maximum of 255 hp (190 kW ), V6 engines installed in series production with a maximum output of 264 hp (197 kW) achieve almost the same performance values.

For the 2010 model year Equinox, some car tests, which are unusual for the USA, reported significantly higher consumption values than previously stated by the manufacturer (Edward's, Car and Driver). As was also emphasized by the relevant testers, the data provided by the manufacturers in this regard are usually very precise.

The model was available in the versions LS, LT and LTZ. The prices ranged from US $ 22,440 to US $ 29,795, depending on the version.

In 2013 the 3.0-l engine was replaced by a 3.6-l engine with a maximum output of 301 hp (224 kW).

A revised version of the Equinox was presented at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show . The changes mainly concerned the exterior design and the interior. In addition, the standard equipment and the list of options have been expanded.
