Model history and engines
Model year 1996 to model year 2002
From model year 1996 to model year 2002, the GM GMT-600 platform was the basis for the vehicle. The engines are large-volume by European standards. During this period, the engines were a 4.3-l V6 petrol engine with a maximum output of 195 hp (145 kW ), a 5.0-l V8 petrol engine with a maximum output of 220 hp (164 kW), a 5.7-l V8 gasoline engine with a maximum output of 250 hp (186 kW), a 7.4-l V8 gasoline engine with a maximum output of 290 hp (216 kW) and an indirect-injection , turbocharged 6 .5 liter V8 diesel engine with a maximum output of 190 hp (142 kW) available.
Since model year 2003
Since model year 2003, the vehicle has been built on the GM GMT-610 platform . Body and safety
The Express and Savana are offered as a panel van (Work Van) and a station wagon (Passenger Van) with 8 to 15 seats. ESP ( StabiliTrak ) has been available in all passenger variants since 2004 .
Power transmission
4-speed automatic transmissions of the type 4L60E are installed as the transmission . The vehicle is available with rear-wheel drive (G-series) and all-wheel drive (H-series).
Sales figures
The Express is sold significantly more than the Savana. The Express and Savana hold 29% of the US pickup market in Q2 2018, placing them in second place behind the Ford Transit . In 2017, a total of 110 017 copies of both vans were sold.
