history

The first vehicle was developed in 1936 by the company's founder's nephew, Carl G. Mayer. The design has been adapted to modern technology over the years. From 1950 it was based on a Willys Jeep . The cars drove to shops, schools, orphanages and children's hospitals and took part in parades and festivals .

From 1969 the vehicles were based on a Chevrolet , in the 1970s there were variants made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic . The vehicles have been operated by General Motors with a 5.7 liter V8 since 2000 . There are currently six Wienermobiles in use; distinguishable by the labels: Yummy , Big Bun , Our Dog , Hot Dog , Weenr and Oscar .
