The Chevrolet Classic Six Series C was an upper middle class passenger car that was manufactured by Chevrolet between 1912 and 1914 as the first vehicle. The vehicle was introduced in November 1911 and was only available as a 5-seater touring car in black and blue paintwork with black fenders and a black bonnet. It had a six-cylinder block engine (2 blocks of 3 cylinders each) with a double, overhead camshaft (DOHC). The engine with a displacement of 4900 cm³ developed an output of 40 bhp (29 kW). The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a cone clutch and a manual three-speed gearbox. The rear wheels were fitted with drum brakes. It also had a very large wheelbase of 120 inches (3048 mm). The retail price was US $ 2,250  .

Their first automobile was announced on November 11, 1911, one week after the company was founded. It was to be a light and inexpensive six-cylinder "French style". However, the cooperation between Chevrolet and Durant was not a good star from the start. Not only that the presentation of the new automobile was delayed again and again, instead of the announced model, Louis Chevrolet finally delivered a heavy and luxurious vehicle, which apart from an engine with 6 cylinders had little in common with the light and inexpensive car that had already been announced was. With this, Chevrolet positioned itself between popular upper middle class vehicles such as the Cadillac , the largest Buick or the "small" Rambler . The Classic Six had the six-cylinder engine ahead of this competition. In model year 1913, the car was built without major changes. Only the previously vertical windshield was now tilted slightly backwards. The price rose to US $ 2500.

In 1914, the only Chevrolet model until then, the H series, was joined by smaller and cheaper models. However, no changes were made to the Classic Six this year.

In the following year, the heavy six-cylinder was discontinued without a direct successor; the experience of this quality car, however, flowed with those from Little Six together in a follow-up project, the Light Six Series L .

Around 10,000 Chevrolet Classic Six were built in three years.
