The Chevrolet Confederate Series BA was a lower middle class passenger car that was only manufactured by Chevrolet in model year 1932 as the only model series and successor to the Independence Series AE . The vehicle was introduced in December 1931 and was available with fourteen different bodies - eleven two-door and three four-door. The cars had the above-controlled six-cylinder in-line engines (OHV) of the predecessor. The machine with 3179 cm 3 , however, displacement developed a power of 60 hp (44 kW) at 3000 min -1 . The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a single-disk dry clutch and a manual, for the first time fully synchronized, three-speed gearbox. All four wheels had mechanical drum brakes and were wire-spoke wheels as standard. The longer bonnet and the four chrome-plated ventilation flaps on each side were also new.
The sales prices were again slightly reduced and were between US $ 445 and US $ 625. After 12 months and only 306,716 copies, the Confederate expired. The successors were the larger Master Eagle Series CA and - six months later - the standard Mercury Series CC .
