Monika Wienfort

Monika Wienfort (born September 29, 1961 in Essen ) is a German modern historian .

Monika Wienfort studied history, sociology and German studies at the Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Bielefeld from 1981 to 1987 , where she worked with Reinhart Koselleck in the 1990 summer semester with the monarchy in civil society. Germany and England from 1640 to 1848 . From 1989 to 1997 she was a research assistant in the Collaborative Research Center “Citizenship” at Bielefeld University. It was there that she completed her habilitation in 1998 with the thesis on Patrimonial Courts in Prussia . From 2002 to 2011 she was a substitute for a professorship for modern history at the Technical University of Berlin . Wienfort held substitute professorships in Bielefeld and Braunschweig. In 2011/2012 she was a Fellow of the School for History at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies . From 2012 to 2014 she was a research assistant at the Humboldt University in Berlin . From 2014 to 2017 she represented the chair for modern and contemporary history as well as history and its didactics at the University of Wuppertal .

Her work focuses on the legal and constitutional history of the 19th century as well as Prussian and British history in the 19th and 20th centuries. Reinhart Koselleck sparked her interest in Prussian history. She was able to make a name for herself particularly in researching the Prussian nobility and patrimonial jurisdiction.

Wienfort is married to the Berlin historian Paul Nolte .
