GMC Vandura
The GMC Vandura is a pickup truck produced by the US automaker GMC , a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors .
history
The GMC Vandura was produced from 1968 to 1996. Then he was replaced by the GMC Savana .
variants
The GMC Vandura was constructed identically to the Chevrolet G20 (colloquially also known as the Chevy Van), but is considered a luxurious and higher quality model. The Vandura was built as a medium-sized truck , as a small van or as a minibus , whereby the minibuses were converted into conversion vans by various outfitters (Explorer, Starcraft, 707, Mark, ...) . Nowadays these can still be found sporadically around the world and are individually embellished or even converted by many owners so that each van receives its unique touch.
The design
The designs of the vans are characterized by the following designations:
- G10 ("1/2 tone"): rear-wheel drive ; short wheelbase and medium wheelbase
- G20 ("3/4 tone"): rear-wheel drive; medium wheelbase
- G30 ("1 tone"): rear-wheel or all-wheel drive; medium wheelbase and long wheelbase
For the G30 there was a short and a long rear axle ratio, optionally with a mechanical differential lock, for the G20 there was an optional automatic differential lock.
top, roof
There are basically two different roof variants:
- Low top: conventional roof
- Hightop: raised roof
The low-top roofs do not offer a great deal of variation, in contrast to the high-top roofs, a wide variety of roof designs have emerged over time.
The motor
petrol
The heart of a Vandura is usually a 5.7 liter V8 engine . There are also the following variants:
diesel
- 6.2 liter V8
- 6.5 liter V8 naturally aspirated diesel
- 6.5 liter V8 turbo diesel
