The Pontiac Torrent is a sports utility vehicle offered by the former US car manufacturer Pontiac from 2005 to 2009 . The vehicle was first presented in 2005 at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The torrent is powered by a 3.4 liter 3400 Vortec V6 engine, which is also used in the Chevrolet Equinox . The engine has four valves per cylinder , has an output of 138 kW (188 hp) and is made entirely of aluminum . In terms of fuel consumption, it should be competitive with European and Asian engines. The Torrent was optionally available with all-wheel drive , but the standard equipment was front-wheel drive .
Pontiac offered the torrent in 2006 at a price of $ 22,990. The equipment included an MP3-compatible radio, red dials and brushed aluminum in the cockpit. The customer could choose between a 5-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission .
