The Pontiac G5 is a passenger car that was launched at the end of 2004 under the name Pontiac Pursuit in Canada and Pontiac G4 in Mexico. In the USA it was introduced in mid-2006 under the name Pontiac G5.
While this vehicle was available in Canada and Mexico both as a coupé and as a four-door (since 2007 also under the designation "G5"), it was only offered as a coupé in the USA.
Both versions were available with either a 2.2-l or a 2.4-l Ecotec petrol engine . The power is transmitted via a manual five-speed gearbox or optionally via a four-speed automatic transmission .
The weight distribution for the Coupé is 60:40 and for the four-door it is 59:41.
The G5 was produced in the Lordstown , Ohio (USA) plant. It is based on the General Motors Delta platform on which u. a. the Chevrolet Cobalt , the Saturn Ion and the European Opel Astra H are also available.
