In November 2009, the entire Pontiac brand production ended with a G6 model after 103 years.
Model history
The model is based on the Epsilon platform from General Motors , which also forms the basis for the Chevrolet Malibu , the Saab 9-3 and the Opel Vectra . Like this one, the G6 has front-wheel drive .
The engines available were a 2.4-liter four-cylinder (172 hp), a 3.5-liter V6 (203 hp) and a 3.9-liter V6 (243 hp). For the 2006 model year, the previous 3.5-liter engine was replaced by a new design of the same size that developed 225 hp. From 2007 a 3.6-liter V6 derived from the 3.9-liter was available. The gearshift takes place either via a 4-speed automatic, a 6-speed automatic with autostick function (manual shift mode) or a manual 6-speed gearshift. The vehicle was built in Lake Orion , Michigan ( USA ).
Equipment
The G6 was available in the basic , GT and GTP equipment versions .
From model year 2008, the GTP line was replaced by the GXP version, which was equipped with a 188 kW (255 PS) 3.6-liter V6, a six-speed automatic (Hydra-Matic 6T70) and a modified front grille. The price list started in 2008 at $ 19,415 (approx. € 12,300) for the sedan, $ 23,750 (approx. € 15,000) for the coupe and $ 30,860 (approx. € 19,500) for the convertible (net prices).
