Previous model Executive

The Pontiac Catalina Brougham was a luxury class passenger car manufactured by Pontiac , a General Motors brand , as the successor to the Executive in the 1971 and 1972 model years .

This model range was the luxury version of the Catalina and was only available as a 4-door sedan or as a hardtop model with 2 or 4 doors. Like the Catalina, the models had a V-shaped nose protruding forward with a wide central bar, on the sides of which vertical radiator grilles were installed. The radiator grille stretched to the entire width of the car beneath the twin headlights, which were arranged side by side in rectangular frames. The vehicles had a "hip bend" over the rear wheel cutouts.

The basic equipment for the drive was a V8 engine with 6555 cm³ displacement, which made 265 bhp (195 kW) at 4400 min −1 and had 2 carburettors. The following engines were also available on request:

  • 6555 cm³ with 300 bhp (221 kW) at 4800 min −1 , with 4 carburetors
  • 7456 cm³ with 280 bhp (206 kW) at 4400 min −1 , with 2 carburetors
  • 7456 cm³ with 325 bhp (239 kW) at 4400 min −1 , with 4 carburetors

In the following year, the front of the vehicle was a little flatter. The two side grills under the twin headlights had disappeared below the bumper.

Nothing changed in the basic engine. The following drives were available as options:

  • 6555 cm³ with 300 bhp (221 kW) at 4000 min −1 , with 4 carburetors
  • 6555 cm³ with 380 bhp (279 kW) at 4000 min −1 , with 4 carburetors
  • 7456 cm³ with 280 bhp (206 kW) at 4000 min −1 , with 2 carburetors
  • 7456 cm³ with 300 bhp (221 kW) at 4000 min −1 , with 2 carburetors
  • 7456 cm³ with 335 hp (246 kW) at 3600 min -1 , 4 carburetors
  • 7456 cm³ with 380 hp (279 kW) at 3600 min -1 , 4 carburetors

In both years of production combined, 51,206 cars were built. In the following year, the Catalina Brougham was canceled without replacement.
