The Pontiac Grand Ville was a model of the so-called full-size class built by the US car manufacturer Pontiac , which was offered from 1970 to 1975.

Model history

In the course of the model renewal for model year 1971, Pontiac rearranged the program of its large-format full-size series. The range had previously been divided into the Catalina entry-level model , the better-equipped Executive and the top-of-the-range Bonneville model (the latter both have a longer wheelbase than the Catalina), but the plant now offered Catalina and Catalina Brougham short (314 cm) and Bonneville as well as the new one Top model Grand Ville on a long wheelbase (320 cm); In 1973 the wheelbase of all large Pontiac sedans was standardized to 315 cm.

The Grand Ville was available as a two-door coupé, four-door sedan, convertible, and from 1973 to 1974 as a six- to nine-seat station wagon (under the name “Grand Safari”). Until 1974 the Grand Ville was powered exclusively by a 7.5-liter V8 with quadruple carburetors; 1975 also from a 6.6-liter V8.

The Grand Ville stood out from the Bonneville primarily through its upscale equipment (wooden inlays on the dashboard, rear reading light, etc.) and until 1974 also had a different roof line with wider C-pillars . In 1975 the Bonneville also received this roof and the Grand Ville series was now officially called Grand Ville Brougham.

For the 1976 model year, the Grand Ville was replaced by the Bonneville Brougham.

In five years the Grand Ville was built 272,000 units.
