The Pontiac Montana is a large-capacity van of the Pontiac brand from the US manufacturer General Motors with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. It was offered in North America and Mexico from the fall of 1999 to the end of 2008 .

From summer 1996 to autumn 1999 it was still the new and second series of the Pontiac Trans Sport . “Montana” initially referred to an option package with a special fairing and wheel equipment that gave the model an SUV-like appearance. Production of this generation took place at GM's Doraville , Georgia facility .

In autumn 1999 (in Canada: spring 2000) the model name "Montana" replaced the model name Trans Sport . The Pontiac Montana was identical to the Buick GL8 , the Chevrolet Venture , the Oldsmobile Silhouette and the Opel Sintra or Vauxhall Sintra .

In spring 2005, the now called Montana SV6 was given a less aerodynamic design, reminiscent of an SUV . It was based on the same platform as the Buick Terraza , Chevrolet Uplander and Saturn Relay models .

It was offered in the USA until 2006 and in Canada and Mexico until early 2009 .

At the end of 2008, production of the Montana SV6 was discontinued.
