History by model year
1981
In February the T1000 will be launched as a three- and five-door station wagon with a 71 hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder. There is only one level of equipment; Pontiac does not offer a basic model with a spartan equipment corresponding to the Chevette Scooter. A four-speed gearbox is standard, the five-door model with a longer wheelbase is also available with five gears, all variants also with three-speed automatic.
1982
The recently introduced T1000 will not experience any changes.
1983
Official renaming to Pontiac 1000, the "T" in the name is omitted. Sports stripes, luxury interior and luggage rack are available as new extras. A diesel variant is announced, but not produced.
1984
A new addition to the range is a sports package, which includes a rear spoiler, sports exterior rear-view mirror, sports steering wheel and a harder-tuned chassis.
1985
The five-speed gearbox is also available for the three-door model, and there are new colors for the body and interior.
1986
The sports package now includes front and rear stabilizers, aluminum wheels, sports rear-view mirrors and trim strips. Otherwise there were no changes.
1987
End of production, no changes.
