The Pontiac Quality 115 Series 25 was a mid- size passenger car manufactured by Pontiac , a General Motors brand , in the 1939 model year .
In 1939, an entry-level model was offered parallel to the Deluxe Six . The economy model was available as a 2-door coupe with three or five seats, as a 2- or 4-door sedan with five seats or as a 5-door station wagon with eight seats. The car was smaller than this year's Deluxe and had a different front, but the same engine. Instead of the typical "Silver Streak" design, the cars had four sections, each made of 3 horizontal chrome bars, which extended around the front of the engine compartment.
As the Deluxe was the Quality 115 equipped with a side-valve six-cylinder in-line engine with 3649 cc capacity, the 85 bhp (62.5 kW) at 3520 min -1 gave. The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a single-disc dry clutch, a fully synchronized three-speed gearbox with steering wheel gearshift and a cardan shaft. The cars had hydraulic brakes on all four wheels, which were designed as steel disc wheels. Like the Deluxe , the Quality 115 had independent front suspension.
In the following year the Special model replaced the “Quality 115”. In the only year of production, 55,736 cars were built.
