The Chevrolet Uplander is a van ( minivan ) of the Chevrolet division of the US manufacturer General Motors with front or all-wheel drive . It was only offered in North America. It replaced the Venture and Astro models . The Uplander was a further development of the Venture and was introduced in spring 2005, the last year of production for the Venture and Astro models. It built on the same platform as the Saturn Relay , the Buick Terraza , and the Pontiac Montana  SV6.

Compared to the venture, the front end and bonnet of the Uplander were lengthened, the formal premiere took place at the Chicago Auto Show 2004 and production started in autumn 2004. It was built in the Doraville Assembly in Doraville near Atlanta , the capital of the US state Georgia, built. On November 21, 2005, GM announced that the plant would be closing in late 2008.

At the start of production, the Uplander was offered with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a maximum output of 149 kW with front-wheel drive or 146 kW with all-wheel drive and 293 Nm maximum torque. One model year later (2006) the variant with a short wheelbase followed. The 3.9-liter V6 engine with a maximum output of 179 kW and 325 Nm maximum torque was offered from model year 2007, but the base engine and the all-wheel drive variant were discontinued. The 3.9-liter V6 engine is a flexifuel version that can run on ethanol and gasoline. The only available transmission version was a 4-speed automatic transmission .

When US-NCAP - Crash test the vehicle in frontal tests were driver-rated with four stars, on the IIHS conducted crash tests was the "moderate overlap front" experiment with "Good" rated.
