The Buick Terraza is a van owned by the GM subsidiary Buick that was sold from early 2005 to late 2007. He replaced the Oldsmobile Silhouette and took the position of the luxury van at Buick, since after the abandonment of the Oldsmobile brand, the vehicle platform had also been taken over by Buick. Being part of the General Motors corporation, it built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Uplander , Pontiac Montana and Saturn Relay , all of which were built in Doraville , Georgia .
Compared to the previous model series, the front end and the bonnet of all branded offshoots have been lengthened in order to improve frontal crash behavior. Nevertheless, the revised model, whose origins can be traced back to the Pontiac Trans Sport (later Pontiac Montana), which had been produced since 1990 , was no longer competitive and could not improve sales.
Initially, the Terraza started with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 200 hp and an acceleration of 0-100 km / h in 10.2 seconds. A year later, an optional 3.9-liter V6 engine with 240 hp followed. In 2007, the 3.5-liter V6 engine was withdrawn from the range and the 3.9-liter engine became the base engine. From 2007, the engine was also available in a flex-fuel version (compatible with different fuels).
With a base price of US $ 27,790 (€ 19,744), the Terraza was the most expensive van from the GM brand to date. As usual with Buick, it was available in the versions CX and CXL. Globally speaking, the Terraza was not Buick's first van, in China it was already offered in modified form as the Buick GL8 .
At the end of 2007, production of the Terraza was discontinued and replaced by the crossover model Buick Enclave .
