The Buick Velite 5 is a plug-in hybrid vehicle in the compact class from the Buick brand belonging to General Motors .

history

The car was in November 2016 at the Auto Show Guangzhou as a concept car Buick Velite Concept announced. The production vehicle debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2017 and was only sold in China until April 2019 . The Velite 5 was replaced by the Buick Velite 6 .

The Velite 5 is identical to the second-generation Chevrolet Volt, which has been sold in North America since 2015 . In contrast to him, however, it was built in China by SAIC General Motors .

The Buick Velite roadster concept vehicle presented at NYIAS in 2004 has nothing in common with the plug-in hybrid apart from its name.

Technical specifications

The Velite 5 takes over the drive from the Chevrolet Volt. This combines two electric motors with a 78 kW (106 hp) 1.5-liter petrol engine that serves as a range extender . With a total output of 110 kW (150 PS), the vehicle accelerates to 100 km / h in 9.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 160 km / h.
