The normal wheelbase model was simply called the GL8 , while the long wheelbase version was sold as the GL8 Firstland . There were four equipment lines: CT1, CT2, LT and GT (only in Firstland). Since the market launch of the 2nd generation in model year 2011, the car has only been available with a long wheelbase. In the 2013 model year, only one model with a slightly more modern 4-cylinder engine is available in the CT and LT equipment lines.

Stars in the C-NCAP - Crash Test (2011) |
The second edition of the GL8 was introduced at the end of 2010, although the first generation with the 2.4-liter engine will initially remain available at a significantly lower price.
The 2011 Buick GL8 draws on the design of the current Buick and Opel models, in particular the step in the rear door of the Opel Meriva B can also be found in the GL8 as a striking feature.
In the crash test carried out by C-NCAP, five stars were achieved, consisting of an 82% rating in a frontal impact with full coverage, a 97.1% rating in a frontal impact with 40% coverage and a 100% rating in a side impact composed.
