The Buick Rainier is a sport utility vehicle presented in 2003 by the GM subsidiary Buick . After Oldsmobile went bankrupt , Buick took over the GMT360 platform of the Oldsmobile Bravada and developed the Buick model Rainier from it with minor modifications. This is how Buick's first SUV was born. It was also the first Buick model with rear-wheel drive since the Roadmaster (1991-1996). From 2008 the Rainier was replaced by the Buick Enclave .
drive
The vehicle was offered with two engines: a 4.2-liter in-line six-cylinder engine with 205 kW and a 5.3-liter eight-cylinder V-engine with a maximum net output of 216 kW. In the 2006 model year, the output of the 4.2 l engine was increased to 217 kW, that of the V8 engine to 224 kW. The engine power is transmitted by means of a four-speed automatic transmission either to the rear axle (rear-wheel drive) or to both axles (all-wheel drive).
Model year 2007
For the last model year, a version called CXL with Bose stereo speakers and a Sirius satellite radio was also available. At the rear there was now air suspension as standard, the Rainier CXL was also optionally available with all-wheel drive.
