The Buick LaCrosse is a four-door, front-wheel drive sedan sold in North America under the American automobile brand Buick since 2004 . It replaces the previous Buick models Century and Regal .

In Canada, the model was offered in the first generation under the name Buick Allure . According to the US car magazine Car & Driver, a renaming was inevitable for the Canadian market after it was discovered that the term LaCrosse means " masturbation " in the dialect of Québec . With the model change to the second generation, however, the model is also sold in Canada as the Buick LaCrosse . GM justified this with the fact that in Quebec the term lacrosse was also accepted in relation to the sport of the same name and that the model could be better marketed under a uniform name.

The model replaced the two Buick types Century and Regal . The LaCrosse is a front-wheel drive that was only available with an automatic transmission . Many Buick Regal drivers were initially disappointed that many of the Regal's features were not available in the LaCrosse. Gradually, however, Buick introduced all of the optional extras for the shelf on the LaCrosse, with the exception of the folding exterior mirrors.

The LaCrosse 2008 model was presented in summer 2007 - it is a facelift with a beefy chrome grille ("waterfall grille"). In the same year the LaCrosse Super was introduced. This was positioned as a high-performance variant and has a 5.3-liter small block V8 with 224 kW.

The last first generation LaCrosse left the assembly line at the Buick plant in Oshawa , Canada on December 23, 2008 .

The prices (as of February 2008) range from 217,000 to 300,000 yuan (about 21,000 to 29,000 euros). With the introduction of the third LaCrosse generation, this will also be offered in China.
