The Suzuki XL7 is a passenger car model from the Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki , which was offered exclusively on the US market from autumn 2006 to the end of 2009. It was designed as a sport utility vehicle with five doors and replaced the Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 .
The Suzuki XL7 was jointly developed with General Motors and was based on the same theta crossover platform as the Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent models . It was manufactured at the Canadian joint venture plant in Ingersoll .
The vehicle was powered by a gasoline engine with 3.6 liter displacement in a V configuration with an output of 188 kW (256 hp). Contrary to the model name, the XL7 was no longer a standard seven-seater compared to its predecessor. However, a third row of seats as well as all-wheel drive were optionally available.
However, since the XL-7 could not prevail in the USA against the great competition of the domestic market, production was discontinued at the end of 2009.
